on learning html & css

I recently stumbled upon the indie web through a Substack post, and upon learning more about personal websites and the Web 2.0, I got inspired to start my own. Given how things are nowadays - where everything you post on social media sites can disappear when the site decides to shut down, and where you don't own the content you post, I realized it was important for me to have a space here on the internet that I could call my own. Hence, this neocities site that I'm slowly building.

And to build this site, I've been learning more about HTML and CSS through the many helpful sites and resources on the internet. Honestly, this undertaking was something that intimidated me - I've never really gotten into coding because I always thought I was too dumb and not logical enough for it. But I saw people online say that it's something that's actually quite learnable, so I tried my hand at it, and surprisingly, I was able to understand the concepts and practice them, albeit at a slower pace than others. It honestly boosted my confidence, and I realized that in the end, it was mostly just me telling myself that I couldn't do or learn certain things.

However, I've put off posting anything on here because I thought that I need to have a good grasp of html + css before attempting to post, but I realized that if I waited until I was satisfied with my knowledge level in this field, I might not ever start because I feel like I'd always have a lot to learn. Besides, what better way to learn than by doing? Hence, this post even if I know there are so many gaps in my knowledge + my page still looks like shit - but I'm excited to transform this corner of the web bit by bit.

To end this post, I'm sharing here some of the resources that have been very helpful in my coding journey so far. feel free to send other resources that would be helpful for beginners :")
